Chicken Nanban with Tartar Sauce

Ingredients

  • 300g of chicken breast
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of pepper
  • 1 tsp of sake
  • 1 tbsp of flour
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Cherry tomatoes

Nanban Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp of vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp of chilli powder

Tartar Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/2 boiled egg
  • 3 tbsp of mayonnaise
  • 30g of onion chopped
  • 1 pickled cucumber chopped
  • 2 tbsp of milk

Instructions

  1. Make the nanban sauce by combining the sugar, soy sauce, vinegar and chilli powder.
  2. Make the tartar sauce by mixing mayonnaise, onion, finely chopped boiled egg, chopped pickles and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Dice the chicken into 3cm cubes and season it with salt, pepper and sake.
  4. In a plastic bag filled with flour, coat the chicken evenly.
  5. Coat the chicken pieces with the beaten egg, and deep fry until it is golden brown.
  6. Drain the oil from the chicken, and marinate the chicken in the nanban sauce.
  7. Place the chicken on a plate of cucumbers and tomatoes.
  8. Spoon a generous amount of tartar sauce onto the chicken.
